With a new labour law coming soon, the arbitration process instead of labour conflict settlement in courts will be the future form of labour dispute solution. For this reason, professional arbitrators are already receiving training. Recently, the Professional Arbitration and Mediation Association of Namibia (PAMAN) was formed. To inform the Namibian business world about arbitration, a seminar will be organised in Windhoek for 1 and 2 April, which will be attended by at least 200 people. Standard Bank of Namibia supports the seminar with N$ 60 000. Speakers will be Chris Binnington, Prof. David Butler, Prof. N. Wiehahn, Dave Smuts and Mutch Masunda of the Arbitration Centre in Zimbabwe. The photo shows Mr Theo Mberirua (left), MD of Standard Bank, Advocate Louis Muller of PANAM and Mr James Hill, also of Standard Bank, at a media briefing about the arbitration seminar.
