Sunday 29th of February 2004 The Namibia Financial institution Advisory Authority (Namfisa) signed a co-operation agreement with the Bank of Namibia to improve and consolidate co-operation on regulatory issues and the sharing of information. Both institutions will from now meet more frequently to streamline and facilitate exchange of information. Additionally, the BoN and Namfisa will alert each other on developments that may affect financial systems and to act swiftly to mitigate systemic economic risks. According to BoN governor Tom Alweendo and the CEO of Namfisa, Frans van Rensburg, both institutions would prevent disclosure of information that might be sensitive or confidential, to third parties, who might not necessarily be entitled to it. |
