Several meetings were recently held with representatives of TASA, Nature Investments (Pty) Ltd, FENATA, MET and HAN to discuss the issue of the recently introduced Day Visitor Fee and arrive at an amicable and mutually beneficial conclusion.

The outcome of the deliberations was that NWR will suspend the Day Visitor Fee with immediate effect (08:00, Thursday, 04 March 2004).

Following a concern expressed by the industry about the timing of the announcement of the annual rates and charges, NWR further undertook to review its rates, which would come into effect as from the 1st of November of each year, by April of that year. This would enable all tourist bodies to incorporate the rates for the coming season in their current brochures.

NWR would like to reiterate that the Park Entrance and Usage Fees are levied by and for the Ministry of Environment and Tourism for onward transmission to the Ministry of Finance.
