Friday 12th of March 2004 HOCKEY The following hockey results have been received: Ladies Premier: Ramblers beat arch rivals Unam 6:2 in the second round of the league. Our players are playing exceptionally well this year. Comment of one of the umpires was "haven’t seen such good hockey for years". Goalscorers for Ramblers were Christa Kayser(1), Yolande Fourie(1), Anke Haensel(1), Silke Pennefather(1) and Juanita Thorburn(2). Ramblers are still top of the log! Well done ladies! Mens Premier: Ramblers lost to the star studded and much younger Unam side 0:5. Ramblers gave a good account of themselves and were unlucky to have two goals disallowed. Ladies First: Ramblers lost to Unam 0:3. The Ladies and Men Premier league teams travel to Walvis Bay this weekend where they will meet Sparta and X-team respectively. Good luck and return home safely! Jackie Hartzenberg gave birth to a baby girl, Jeriene, on 5 March 2004, congratulations! WINDHOEK OPTICS RAMBLERS Our guys travelled to Gobabis last weekend where they came up against African Stars in the first round of the inaugural Sam Nujoma Cup. In a typical cup encounter, Windhoek Optics Ramblers were leading 3:1 at one stage after Michael Pienaar(2) and Costa Khaiseb scored, but African Stars managed to equalise ten minutes before the end. Ramblers, however, demonstrated real character and got the well deserved winning goal seconds before the end when Victor Helu hammered the ball into the back of the net after a very nice build up. Well done guys! We now have to play Orlando Pirates in the quarter finals and this game will be played this coming Saturday at 16H00 at the Cascades stadium in Oshakati. Good luck guys and travel safely! LADIES SOCCER / TOP SCORE 7-a-SIDE Ramblers Hockey beat Servisair 2:0 last Friday night. This Friday night we are playing Civics Dolphins at 20H45 on field 1. Ramblers Hockey are still leading the logstandings! Ramblers Tasly drew 1:1 against NBC last Friday and will be playing Servisair at 20H45 on field 2 this Friday night. Results of last week and the fixtures for this Friday appear in this issue of PLUS. RAMBLERS OLD BOYS Ramblers Old Boys will be hosting a team from Frankfurt, the Lufthansa Cargo Bulls, on the weekend of 26-28 March 2004. VIP Ralf "Vormann" Behrens won the jackpot of N$ 400 last Friday. Congratulations, Vormann! This means that the Friday jackpot is now back at N$ 100.
