Monday 22nd of March 2004 The 2004 Fistball season started last weekend and some of the hot favourites tumbled heavily, whilst teams with some of the more experienced players within their ranks surprised many. In the National " A " league, hot favourite SKW 1 ( missing two of the key players ) had a very tough day, losing against their own second team SKW 2, and had to fight hard to win in three sets against both the Coastal sides. On the other hand had SKW 2 ( with their very experienced players M. Baas and H. Fülle ) the perfect start to the season with a clean sheet, taking out Cohen 1 and SKW 1 and now heading the log. But also, Swakop 2 A, the team with all the so very experienced players, showed the Youngster team and favourite Swakop 1, that they know how to play Fistball and surprised by winning in 3 sets. Its still early days, but if this is trend to continue, this season will go right down to the last game to determine the Champion. In the National " B " league, last years champion Cohen 3 took on everybody where they left last year, winning easily all their games, same did SKW 3, the dark horse in this league. Nice to see Otjiwarongo, with some new signings, taking on the more established clubs. |
