Monday 22nd of March 2004
JSKA-Karate

The 2nd JSKA World Cup and Master’s Training Camp is hosted by the Karate Academy of South Africa in partnership with the City of Tswane and Tuks Sport, from 26 to 31 July 2004. This prestigious event will be presented in Pretoria at the modern, internationally acclaimed, sporting complex of the University of Pretoria. Traditional JKA rules will be followed to ensure a junior and youth friendly tournament. It is envisaged that 36 countries world wide will take part in this prestigious event.

Shotokan Namibia is very fortunate to participate in this World Cup and the talents of Namibia’s karate-ka will be exposed and in the process be moulded into worthy World Cup karate champions for Namibia in the future. This is an event not to be missed by any karate student, seeing that this World Cup is hosted on Namibia’s door step. It is our greatest wish to give each and every Shotokan Karate-ka the opportunity to participate in this tournament and to be recognized as a World Champion in Karate and an ambassador for Namibia. Our syllabus incorporates; discipline, muscle tone & co-ordination, kinetics, posture, confidence & self image, concentration and value system. Karate-ka’s for the Namibian team consist of a good balance of gender as well as different ethnic groups.

The Shotokan Namibia Gasshuku/Training camp was presented by Sensei Soon Pretorius, with a view on the JSKA World Championships. Emphasis was placed on the technical aspects of the junior / heian katas and refereeing. A selected group of Namibian Shotokan karate-kas participated in this gasshuku over the weekend.
