WINDHOEK OPTICS RAMBLERS Windhoek Optics Ramblers won a silver medal in the inaugural Sam Nujoma Cup last weekend in Walvis Bay and earned N$ 45,000 in the process!

On Saturday we beat last year’s league winners Chief Santos 1:0 in the semi-final. Man of the match, Bernardine Mbilizi, got the winner in the 15. minute after a super solo effort. Ramblers dominated in all aspects of the game and were unlucky not to score more goals. The final against Black Africa on Sunday was played in front of a capacity crowd of 5000 people as part of the Independence celebrations and was televised live on NBC. Ramblers started off very nervously and made a lot of mistakes in the defence. After about twenty minutes our guys started to find the rhythm and launched various attacks on the Black Africa goal. In the second half more chances were created, but our forwards did not have their shooting boots on.

In the reulting penalty shoot out Black Africa beat us 3:1 as they kept their cool and calmly converted the spot kicks.

Nevertheless, this was a great moment indeed for Windhoek Optics Ramblers when the players and officials received their silver medals from President Nujoma!! Well done guys!! Keep up the good work and with a little bit of luck we will win a trophy in the foreseeable future. The second round of the Namibia Premier League resumes this weekend with the following matches:
