Model Pick ‘n Pay opens at Okahandja

Model Pick ’n Pay, a subsidiary of the Ohlthaver & List Group, opened a new store in Okahandja last week. The exquisite store was officially opened to the public by Okahandja Mayor Johannalina Damases and Mr Sven Thieme Chairman and CEO of O&L on 25 March. The store is located in Voortrekker Road and was built at a cost of N$ 2 million. A total of 53 new jobs were created, 21permanent and 32 casual.

The store celebrates it opening with a variety of specials and sales promotions. The O&L Group now operates 12 stores and supermarkets countywide.

Zambezi floods hit Caprivi

Prime Minister Theo-Ben Gurirab said rescue operations taking people to higher grounds away from the Zambezi River near Katima Mulilo have started. In a statement made in the National Assembly on Wednesday, Gurirab said five boats were dispatched from Katima to flood areas to assist with rescue operations. Government would provide tents and food to those who were evacuated. Alternative solutions for schoolgoing children, whose schools were flooded, will be looked into. He said 2 Zambian citizens, a mother and her child drowned while crossing the river in a boat.
