Saturday 24th of April 2004 Glass manufacturing near Rehoboth On the request of the Namibian government, Czech geologists investigated the possibility for a glass manufacturing industry near Rehoboth, where suitable quartz occurrences were found. Production costs could be lowered if the material will be mixed with 70 of recycled glass, which would also reduce the pollution of glass bottles in Namibia. A feasibility study will be undertaken under the auspices of the ministry of mines and energy, Cabinet announced this week. A special occurrence of quartz was found on the farm Choaberib in the Rehoboth district, which has cobalt content. Glass produced from this raw material will have a unique light bluish colour, the geologists found, enabling a typical Namibian decorative glassware.
