Saturday 15th of May 2004 NWR is pleased to announce that the new tariffs that will be charged as from 1 November 2004 to 31 October 2005 are released locally at the 2004 Namibia Holiday & Travel Expo. This is in line with the promise NWR made at its meetings with the tourism industry late last year. NWR is also pleased to make public that the increase has been kept to a bare minimum. In fact, the average increase for all resorts under our management is a mere 5,7%. Due to popular demand, NWR has also re-introduced transport from the nearest landing strip to the resort. The facility is available to all fly-in clients at a nominal charge per person depending on the distance from the resort. NWR would like to advise all its esteemed customers that the 2004/2004 tariff structure already includes the anticipated 2% NTB tourism levy. Should this levy not be introduced by 1 November 2004, NWR tariffs will be reduced by that percentage as a matter of course. Protracted negotiations with the Ministry of Environment & Tourism have resulted in the gates at Sesriem being opened an hour earlier and closed an hour later so as to give tourists and visitors a chance to photograph the sunrise and sunset over the dunes at Sesriem. A nominal charge applies to this special service. At this stage NWR has NOT introduced any additional fees for day visitors. The media and the industry will be informed well before introduction of such a fees once consensus has been achieved on this issue with the various role players in the industry. NWR would like to point once again that all Namibian citizens (and permanent residents) automatically qualify for: a.) a 25% discount on accommodation rates/camping fees and b.) a 50 % discount on park fees. These discounts can be claimed by showing a Namibian passport or by showing a permanent residence stamp when booking or paying. Our senior citizens (Namibian citizens over 60 years of age) qualify for an additional 10% discount on accommodation/camping fees. Proof of their status has to be presented when making a booking as well as on arrival at the resort. |
