Special Karakul Wool Auction

Special Types Karakul Wool were sold at an auction held by Agra Pelt Centre on 14 March.

11 250 kg were on offer and 9 577 kg (85%) were sold at an average price of N$ 12.63 per kilogram. The average price dropped by 33% while the biggest drop in price was recorded for white wool (- 45% compared to the previous auction in October 2002. 11% more wool was sold on this auction against the previous auction.

The following colours were sold:

The largest buyer was Mrs Jenny Carvill of Karakulia Namibia in Swakopmund and the highest price of N$ 30/ kg was paid by her for white wool produced by JJ de Klerk from Koës.

Four buyers attended the Auction: Karakulia Namibia, African Kirikara, Ibenstein Teppiche and Der Webervogel.

The next special types Karakul wool auction will be held on 26 September 2003.
