Monday 21st of June 2004 WINDHOEK OPTICS RAMBLERS Windhoek Optics Ramblers played their final league games at home last weekend. In Saturday’s game we managed to beat Eleven Arrows 2:0 with the goalscorers being Arend von Stryk and Henrico Botes. Both goals were scored in the second half.Sunday’s game against Blue Waters produced top class football that was thoroughly enjoyed by the big crowd. From the start Windhoek Optics Ramblers started applying the pressure and Patrick M’Kontwana was unlucky when his shot hit the cross bar in the 12. minute. More chances through Victor Helu, Costa Khaiseb, Michael Pienaar and Nico Nicodemus followed, but at half time there was still no score. In the second half Windhoek Optics Ramblers were finally rewarded for their continous efforts in the 65. minute when Henrico Botes scored with a very well taken header after Costa Khaiseb had crossed the ball following a nice build up in midfield. In the final twenty minutes Blue Waters started playing with determination and scored the equaliser in the 80. minute through a free kick. Final score: Windhoek Optics Ramblers 1 Blue Waters 1. This weekend we are travelling to the North where we are playing as follows: Saturday, 19 June at 15H00 Oshakati City vs Windhoek Optics Ramblers Sunday, 20 June at 13H00 Benfica vs Windhoek Optics Ramblers Good luck guys and have a safe trip! Players that excelled were Claudia Offner, Britta Haensel, Courtney du Plessis, Mia Ballotti, Aninke Buys, Tatjana Coetzee and Steffi Neustädt. In the Masters division (over 30 years) Ramblers ended up as winners! The Masters team consisted of Dagmar Räntsch, Jackie Gertse, Johann and Anke Haensel, Silke Pennefather, Magda Steenkamp, Peter Engelsmann and Herman Reinders. The mens team ended third with former Ramblers soccer player Stakes Coetzee having a good run. The ladies first and second teams ended 4th and 5th respectively.
