Monday 17th of March 2003 Her Royal Highness Queen Lamatsebula of the Kingdom of Swaziland arrived in Namibia on Tuesday, 18 March for a nine-day visit to Namibia at the invitation of the Namibian First Lady, Madam Kovambo Nujoma. The aim of the visit is for the Swazi Queen to explore possibilities with regard to the fostering of business contacts between Swazi and Namibian women. Swazi women are interested to learn from their Namibian counterparts on how to extract oil from marula fruits. Swaziland and Namibia share a common tradition of producing drinks from fresh marula fruits and nuts from dried fruits. Unlike Namibia, Swaziland was not aware that cooking oil could be produced from marula nuts and the Swazi Queen is visiting the country to gain first hand experience on marula oil production in order to take this information back to her country. During her stay, the Queen and her delegation will also visit Ramatex, Penduka, the Namibia Craft Centre in Windhoek, the Eudafano Women Cooperative at Ongha and King Kauluma’s Palace. Queen Lamatsebula will attend the Independence celebrations at Ongwediva. In Swakopmund she will visit the Cristall Gallery and in Walvis Bay some factories where mainly women are employed. On 26 March she will depart to The Kingdom of Swaziland. |
