Friday 16th of July 2004 Air Namibia’s Chairman of the Board, Vekuii Rukoro, stated interference of State House in commercial decisions when he quit. It appears that President Nujoma did not want to get rid of the Boeing Combi 747-400, which has cost tax-payers more than N$ 1,4 billion since it was bought in 1999. The Namibian reports that Rukoro called a price for the Combi (N$ 396 million) „incredible", since Air Namibia could not expect a better offer, but the price was still US$ 10 million less than the amount currently owed by Air Namibia. |
