Friday 30th of July 2004 The major decision making organs of SADC, namely the regional energy sector will hold a series of meetings in Windhoek on Thursday and Friday to deliberate on further plans for regional electricity generation planning. Developments surrounding the Western Corridor Company, which intends to unlock the hydropower potential at Inga on the Congo River in the DRC and other major generation projects in the region will be the most important deliberations. The opening of the Southern African Power Pool (SAPP) Special Executive Committee meeting already started on Thursday afternoon. The opening of the conference of SADC ministers of energy commenced on Friday morning At a Windhoek Hotel. The ministerial meeting will be concluded in the afternoon of the same day with a briefing to the media on important outcomes. |
