Last Sundaythe first locomotives left the Zhanghuabang Port in Shanghai, China, on their way to Namibia. It is the first export of this kind to Namibia. 30 oil tanks and 4 diesel locomotives are on their way. Later this year, another set of diesel railroad cars will be delivered. It is said that the locomotives (valued at N$ 37 million) are designed for our high temperatures and semi-arid environment. They are designed to speed at 120 km/h, but the real speed could be 90 km/h.
