HOCKEY

All three Ramblers hockey sides lost their respective league games last weekend.

The Ladies First side lost to Rehoboth, but this developmental side is impro-ving from game to game.

The Ladies Premier side played their worst match in the last four years losing 0:1 Wanderers.

But our Mens Premier side played very well losing to the star studded Unam team 2:4. Youngster Kid Bezuidenhout and Louw de Wet scored for Ramblers. Excellent play by the whole team and especially by Reagon Graig, the player coach.

Louw de Wet has been selected as a player for the Boys u/21 team to play in Botswana. Candice Coetzee was selected as a non-traveller for the ladies u/21 team. Well done!!!

The following Smarties have been invited for u/13 trials to compete in Botswana in September: Steffie Neustädt, Janneke Brink, Tatjana Coetzee, Claudia Offner, Britta Haensel and Courtney du Plessis. Silke Pennefather was appointed as the coach.

This weekend the following game will be played in the National league at the Jubber (Union) fields:

Saturday, 14H00: Ladies Premier vs Unam

OLD BOYS

Ramblers had a very enjoyable trip to Otavi and wish to thank the organisers for once again staging a super tournament. Thank you very much also to former Ramblers player, Günther Hellinghausen and his wife Charlotte for the super accommodation that was once again provided.

The under 40’s played super football, but lost to SKW in the decisive game 3:4. - Playing with only one reserve proved too much for Ramblers. The same applied to the Ramblers over 40’s who were thrashed 1:4 by SKW, but managed to end as runners up in their section.

Next year we must get our act together and travel with more reserves to Otavi if we want to stand a chance of winning a trophy.

It should be pointed out, however, that Ramblers were the only participating side who did not make a mockery of the traditional Old Boys rules and spirit by fielding only players over the age of thirty years.
